Social Walk

If the dog regularly freaks out in dog encounters and you find yourself helpless at the end of the leash, you need support. This situation is equally stressful for you and your dog and also unpleasant for the other person.

What is a Social Walk? The term simply means a learning walk that places a special focus on the presence of the other dogs.
To do this, a small group of human-dog teams meet and go for a walk together at a safe distance. The dogs usually stay on a leash and close contact or direct interaction is not the primary goal. People are responsible for arranging the situation so that the dogs can practice undisturbed and feel comfortable and safe. For this purpose, dog-human interaction is reduced to a minimum.

The dogs should learn:
• to be able to engage with its surrounding in the presence of other dogs
• to tolerate other dogs and not to perceive them as threatening.
• deal with other dogs without pressure,
• practisse their communication skills and read that of others.
• approach others in a friendly and polite manner

But of course people also learn:
• read the dog's body language better.
• to recognize what success depends on in a dog encounter.
• relax yourself when other dogs are present.

Social walks are a great training element so that you and your dog can have fun and relaxed experiences with other dogs.
